GUATEMALA

BCC MISSION WORK IN GUATEMALA

In October 2023, BCC is launching its first Mission Project to Latin America,  Guatemala, situated in Central America. A small team will come together with an American Church from Chicago, a Christian organisation of Young Adults called REINDOM, and 3 churches in Guatemala. The trip is going to be split into two parts.

Firstly, we will be at a Christian Orphanage called Casa Bernabé. There are around 100 children, and we will bring recreational activities, teachings about biblical principles to the children, and support to the staff and volunteers.

Secondly, near Guatemala City, there is a region called Sumpango, Sumpago has three villages, San Rafael, San Jose and Santa Marta… these villages are amongst the most poverty-stricken areas of Guatemala, and together with teams we will be working there, and we will be pioneers of the vision:

COMMUNITIES AS MODEL OF TRANSFORMATION.

The vision: is about helping a community that has an extreme need to experience a process of holistic and sustainable transformation, in a period of at least 5 years, until this community becomes a model of change that will inspire other communities in the nation and beyond to exp
erience the same. This will be done through a strategic plan of holistic development, and volunteering.

BCC’s focus will be on the village Santa Marta.

Santa Marta has a population of 1,500 people, around 280 families and it’s commonly known as “La Olvidada”, which means “the forgotten one”. We will be able to share so much time with the community, to share the Gospel, to pray, to share the heart of God with the community. As you can imagine it has great needs, and one of the greatest needs is that they have no clean water to drink from, they depend on rainwater.

We are going to be part of “The Water Project”.  Which consists of supplying them with water filters that will give them clean water. Each filter has a cost of £35 to support a family. Our target is to have enough funding to provide for 70 filters, but is it possible we can provide more?

COMMUNITIES AS MODEL OF TRANSFORMATION.

The vision: is about helping a community that it’s in extreme need to experience a process of holistic and sustainable transformation, in a period of at least 5 years, until this community becomes a model of change that will inspire other communities in the nation and outside of the nation to experience the same. This will be done through a strategic plan of holistic development, and volunteering.

Strategic Plan: for a community to experience a holistic transformation it’s necessary to follow a strategic plan of holistic development. This plan will be elaborated by the University Panamericana through their Department of Strategic Planning. They will develop a study of the areas with the greatest needs, including health, education, business, family, leadership, art and sports, security, infrastructure, environment, and spirituality. Whatever help that will be provided must cover these 10 areas. This will guarantee clear measurements of the effort and results of our work.

Volunteering. For this strategic plan of transformation and holistic development to move forward, it is necessary to work with volunteers. These volunteers will work hand in hand with the community. They will mostly be coming from the Churches of Guatemala and International churches. People that with their knowledge, talents, gifts, resources, and contacts, can enrich each of the 10 areas of transformation mentioned in the strategic plan.  As volunteers, we will count on the educational entities (Schools and Universities), companies, charities, and non-profit associations that for years have been carrying out great social work for the benefit of the population. With their knowledge and experience, they will be able to support us.

It’s important to know that the effort to help communities that we are making has no political purpose, no financial benefit for anyone, no proselytizing purpose for any religion. It’s birthed out of the love of God through Jesus Christ, who gave His life for all. We won’t give in exchange to receive anything in return, but we believe that our actions and love will bring people to know Christ and His purpose for all.
