Earthquake, Prayer and Fasting - Jan 2022.mov

Why should you pray and fast?

Many important figures in the bible participated in fasting and prayer during pressing times in their lives. People such as; Moses, Elijah, Esther, Nehemiah, Daniel, Paul, and of course the most important of them all, Jesus Christ who fasted for 40 days in the wilderness.

But fasting and prayer need not be limited to difficult circumstances you may be facing.  There are also many spiritual benefits associated with fasting:

Victory over temptation: Our Lord Jesus Christ went into the wilderness and fasted and prayed for our Heavenly Fathers helping Hand. During this time Satan appeared and tried to tempt Him, but fortified by the power of prayer and fasting, Jesus overcame temptation.

Reach the heart of God: While fasting we are able to rid ourselves of the pleasures of the flesh that drive us farther away from God. We are able to focus on what really matters; our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Deliverance: During fasting and prayer we are able to reestablish our relationship with our Lord. All distractions are removed from our hearts and we are able to focus on our spiritual growth and salvation.
